A welcome

and a departure

Though the area around the Tian Tan Buddha is a bit commercial the bronze statue is quite amazing. After climbing the 268 steps to the Buddha you pretty much have forgotten what you have left behind and can concentrate on this magnificent statue. The gray sky was perfect for seeing the Big Buddha in all it’s detail where a bright sunny day would have made it more difficult to see this wonder. I have been in Hong Kong, and especially in the nearby airport, many times and have never gone to this attraction until now. I had been missing so much by not taking the journey up.
