Time Always Wins

About a decade ago I was in Cordova, Alaska, a great experience. The only way you can get to Cordova is by boat or plane, no roads get you there. I saw a glacier at its face, up close and personal, an amazing and odd sight. This time around I was at a distance to many though some were just a short distance away – easily viewed. The area near the Portage Glacier had several glaciers within eyesight. If you go to the Portage Valley, Portage Glacier, and Begich, Boggs Visitor Center you will see several glaciers. It’s around an hour drive from Anchorage, so an easy quick trip from the city, and worth the drive. While I was there on day one it was nicely calm, day two was very different, very windy and rainy but actually interesting weather and beautiful. The Portage Valley is a nice side trip from the Seward Highway and a great beginning to an amazing day trip along the Seward Highway.
